I can't handle this game sometimes.
Top players sitting waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the redline with their sicas and gunloggis, it must be nice not having to use your directionals while playing rofl.
::sigh::
It's just comical at this point.
CCP, make it so railguns can fight dropships out on the field, then do something about your ******** ******* useless ass redline that does nothing for the game other than make matches boring as hell

This game is giving me diabetes. You can't even counter the ******* with your own railgun because they just roll backwards. God this is the dumbest excuse for balance I've ever seen in a game. time to adjust your game then mr fiend... how else are they supposed to counter you, i would just be flattered that it took 4 of em :P concider using a gorgon instead and packing a fields worth of uplinks. Float around and do some team support if you cant actually stay in the air due to overwhelming anti-dropship measures on the other team :P It's not that I'm being countered, as I've said numerous times, I want railguns to always be able to fight back.
It just makes me want to melt my PS3 when some players don't even need to move, can sit way back in the safe zone, and entirely deny a whole playstyle while picking their nose, rubbing one out, and blasting justin beiber.
It's stupid, and makes this game feel like a joke.
Also, those railguns were up before I even had the chance to call in my ship. People don't do it to counter, they do it because they don't know how to play.

in games against AE they dedicate railtankers just to keep me out of the air and they STILL cant "deny my playstyle" through those methods... and these are GOOD tankers, i think you need to adjust your playstyle a little bit and stop treating the ADS like its the assault suit of the sky instead of the utility vehicle that it is.
I honestly don't care enough anymore, I'm not trying to be super competitive or anything like that, I'm just venting about how ******** the whole redline / railgun relationship is.
It's foolish, makes no sense lore or balance wise, does nothing to make the game better or more enjoyable, and coupled with near free tanks, it's just the dumbest thing I've ever seen.
It's just rage inducing

Ghosts Chance wrote:the problem is that even without the redline all it does is make it easyer for you to kill the tanks yoruself, and since they are dirt cheap there will just be more incoming.
not only that but against experianced tankers the redline make little to no difference as they will just crossfire you so that you cant engage one without being shot by the other.
your problem will exisst with or without the redline.
As I've stated, make it so railguns can actually fight dropships without the redline. Give them more elevation, I really don't care. I just want to be able to FIGHT BACK
If I'm getting zoned out by multiple tanks, that's because of teamwork and skill, not broken ass game mechanics.
I have never once complained about good tankers using teamwork and zoning to kill me. That's good gameplay. I ***** about useless ***** sitting in the redline 23/7 because they risk nothing and have everything to gain. It's stupid, and only serves to highlight that CCP has yet to figure out how to balance their game.

thats high risk and low reward since chances are your going to win if their teams doing that. just sit on a roof with some uplinks and a RR/LR and call it a game? This isn't about winning or losing, it's about terrible mechanics that destroy any sense of realism, fun, or competition.
It is the metaphorical crutch of DUST 514, not only for it's players, but for it's developers as well, who have yet to find the creative inspiration or courage to actually tackle the problem.

(your problem would still exsist if the redline diddnt, only you wouldnt have the redline to blaim it on, right now its kind of a safe zone for railguns, but their only real targets from back there are dropships... remove your dropship fromt he equasion and suddenly the red team is down a few players giving your team the advantage, and in the event the reds steal the high ground you still have enough operation time to clear them out before you become railfodder so they cant even really prevent you from doing your job) You're just dancing around the issue.
I recall, they recall, we're back to square one. Redline + railgun = imbalanced

It's as simple as that. You forgot the third one, Scrub tankers like myself that need a tank to take on another tanks since most QQ tankers nerfed all my proto AV weapons into uselesness, unless im in an organized squad; thing which most of the times i avoid... Swarms desperately need a buff, plasma cannons needs a reason to exist as an AV weapon, AV grenades need a tiny bit more range, Forge Guns are PERFECT. I repeat, PERFECT. If you aren't firing by yourself, your damage will be the tipping point that blows up any vehicles. I for one am tired of forge gunning now that I have an Incubus that can actually shred tanks, and hope 1.8 comes with a respec so I can go Scout with speed and REs for taking out tanks up close
1.7 MLT Tanks are an abomination, pure and simple. Actual tanks are good, aside from being able to stack damage mods (which applies to all vehicles). Yet again the redline rears its ugly head, literally encouraging design decisions through the 1.7 "Waves of Opportunity" approach.
That clearly took having the redline to run back to as a motivating force behind moving in that direction. BAAAAAAAAAH.
1.8 needs to get here so I can decide if I'm gonna stick around or just build passive for at least a couple months. I don't even remember the last time I've capped out in a week, many times I barely even touch it lol. This whole thread is just QQ about design decisions and I think I'm just gonna leave you all to it.
BAD FURRY wrote:" only when the dropships are useless for fire support will you have my permission to cry " .....
I know you have a tiny bit of experience using and abusing OP ****, and I know your railgun loooooooves that redline, so I also know that you know damn well that a dropship cannot provide adequate "fire support" when a railgun has a line on them from the redline, which will be often, as the dropship has to pull up slightly to avoid being murdered by ground AV and physics. You can't even rely on your own teams railguns to take them out half the time because your tanks are still being pelted by AV out on the field, where that redline tank is running pure GANK, and just picks the enemy tanks off before they get close enough.
It
Is
Obnoxious.

KING CHECKMATE wrote:FG can be perfect.
But the fact they have to be used with a HEAVY suit take away much of its credibility...
One cannot be a speedy AV, nor a Stealthy AV, not even an AVers with high Anti Infantry capacity...etc...you get my point. Which is why I mentioned the need for buffs to other forms of AV.
I actually plan on having a stealth speed scout with REs and maybe a plasma cannon for AV in 1.8 assuming a full infantry respec. If there isn't I'll just collect passive for a few months, play some of my old games, and then just throw myself into ESO when it releases.
KenKaniff69 wrote:Just give dropships a 30% built in resistance to rails. The only reason damage is an issue at all is because of being able to stack damage mods, which is compounded by the fact that the redline negates the natural weakness of running a glass tank. So, you get all the pros with none of the cons, all the reward with none of the risk, and it creates imbalance.
Much of this games problems start and end with the redline.
